| I was blessed to have a godly and faithful mother who
instilled in my brother and me the value of the church and a
personal relationship with God, so at ten-years old, through
the drawing of the Holy Spirit, I gave my life to Christ.
During my high school years I remained actively
involved in my church and our youth group.
Post high school, while a student at
Cumberland College, I had the privilege to play guitar
in the Baptist Student Unions praise and worship band,
which to this day I still consider to have been a great
ministry experience.
However, it was the opportunity presented to me by a deacon
that would change the course of my life.
A long-time deacon of my home church, First Baptist Church in Mt.
Vernon, KY,
asked me to share my testimony on Baptist Mens Day.
After much hesitation, I reluctantly accepted.
What happened to me in the pulpit that evening is
hard to describe. I
felt more alive than I had ever felt in my entire life.
That moment marked the beginning of my love affair
with preaching and my call to the ministry.
Since then, God has taught me much; mainly, how to
love the church and be loved by the church.
I look forward to many more years of doing just that. |
